Help with launcher bar

    hi all.
    i have gone through the switching tutorial and can now switch my desktop but whilst doing the launcher app i inadvertantly added three icons to the panel/taskbar. also the panel icons have shifted to the middle of the taskbar. when i open firefox i get a open window box on the taskbar to the left of the std icons and three more to the right.
    please help
