Hi, I've had my AOA150 for a year now. Worked fine until the warranty ran out, then PROBLEMS!!

Within about 5 minutes of startup, the computer freezes up. The mouse cursor will still move around, but you can't navigate any windows, open or close programs, change tabs in a browser, or even turn the darn thing off! So I have to do a 'hard stop' and hold the power button down until it turns off. I called Acer but of course they only offer paid support after warranty.

Any ideas? I reloaded the Op System (more than once) using eRecovery, but it still freezes up. Are the disks they sell the same software and drivers as what's found in the partition in my HD? Should i update the BIOS?

Or do I have a hardware problem? I don't think so, because everything runs correctly for a few minutes, then it just sits there....Oh, mine is running WinBlows XP home, if that is important....

Please help, I like the little guy and want to make it work again....
    Cheers, Dave

    a) check that the AA1 is not heating up too much. if that is the case try finding the software/hardware causing this and remove it.

    b) have you done any hacks or mods internally? Anything permanently plugged in the USB ports that might cause this? try revert the configuration of your AA1 to factory settings (no added hardware) if you can

    c) Wipe out your hard drive and install Windows from a usb key made from a normal Windows install CD, not the supplied recovery one

    d) I would definitely update the BIOS

    e) If all the above failed I would look for a AA1 motherboard on Ebay, but only if it is at most half the price of a AA1. If it is cheaper, the other alternative would be to bring it to a computer repair shop: the ones who offer "no repair no fee" deals. There are millions of netbooks around now and I am sure some repairers have specialised in netbooks...
