    Hello everybody,

I am a new aao owner and am proud of it!

    My model:
    Acer Aspire One AOA150-1172, Black
    My specs:

    Hard Drive Size: 120 GB
    System RAM: 1024 MB
Chipset Type: Mobile Intel 945GSE Express
    Data Bus Speed: 533 MHz
    L2 cache
    Installed Size: 512 KB
    Hard Drive: 160 GB
    RAM
Installed Size: 1 GB / 1.5 GB (max)
    Technology: DDR2 SDRAM - 533 MHz
    Configuration Features: 1 x 512 MB + 512 MB (soldered)
Graphics Processor / Vendor: Intel GMA 950 Dynamic Video Memory Technology 3.0
OS Provided: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
    Technology: 3-cell lithium ion

    Question:

Ok, I am actually pretty tech savy, so you can talk at an intermediate level.

    1. my specs say 1 x 512 + 512 soldered ~ does this mean that there is a 512MB stick of RAM in the bay now, or is the bay open for upgrade

    2. why only 1.5GB (max) is this a hardware disablility or is it something that can change in time?

    Please answer me,

    and thanks

    ~bg

it has been answered loads of times.
have you tried using the search function??

512MB are soldered on board, 512 in the bay.
1.5GB total because although the bay could host a 2GB sodimm, this would bring the total to 2.5GB which is not supported by the chipset. so the max sodimm you should put there is a 1GB, for a total of 1.5GB.
