My laptop has recently been running extremely slow to the point where I have to reboot (usually when I do something related to explorer.exe) . This occurs even in safe mode, where I did spyware and malware scans that came up clean. In the past couple days, messages pop up about hard drive failure. I have backed up all my data at this point.

The strange thing is, yesterday the laptop ran as fast as it ever did and today it is back to the same issue with sporadically sputtering speed.

Since sfc /scannow stalls at 21% verification and closes, I did a CrystalDiskInfo scan and was hoping someone can help my decipher what it means. (pasted below)

On the software screen, the categories "reallocated sector count" is red, "current pending sector count" is yellow and everything else is blue.

Any advice on what its telling me and other diagnostics I should run? Thanks for any help!!

You could do a surface test with this program Aomei Partition Assistant.

Goto disk operations, and run disk surface scan
