Well I am reading all the mods on this page.
What does interest me are teh access times.

Like people mentioned the Acer One 120 HDD 2.5" version Boots XP faster than the Acer One 8 SSD Version.
Alot of People went from Acer One 8 SSD to Acer One w/ 30-120GB 1.8" HD.

Now from the previous reports about XP running slow on the SSD, how does the 1.8" compare to the SSD and the 2.5" HD.
Does it run faster than SSD, does it run as fast as 2.5" HD (Based of 1 or 1.5 GB)

    Please give me some inputs.

PS: Also does any one have the buttom side pics of the Extra Space of teh 2.5 HD version Compared to the SSD ?
Does the 2.5 HD come with the 3G presoldered or is it missing just like the SSD version (Based on NA, US releases)

Well, I´ve not modded in the drive yet but installed XP on the SSD and on an external 2,5 SATA USB drive and compared those two. The installs are indetical version made smaller with nLite and uses the same drivers ans settings (no swep, prefetch etc)

Time from power on to Login screen:

    SSD: 11sec
    USBHD: 13sec

Time from enter pressed at login to wireless conntected ad IE7 started and loaded Google (IE put in Startup):

    SSD: 56sec
    USBHD: 12sec

Time from login to no HD/SSD activity:

    SSD: 98sec
    USBHD: 21sec

so in your case the boot up time was excelent but accessing any data was a pain on teh SSD.
Was this with D2D turned on or off, For SSD in Bios ?

If you checkup speedrate of SSD, it's something between 16 and 32mb/s (i got this speed rate on my 486...). A toshiba MK6008 runs at 100mb/s.

You have to run Sandra sisoft on your One; do 2 tests:
    -read/write rate on your SSD
-read/write on a standard SD card

You'll notice that your SD card is even faster than your SSD...

That's the reason why I changed my SSD for a 1.8" HDD

    Ahhh okay.
So the 1.8" is a good mod to do for speed.
And the A1 Controller, can actually handle the full speed of the 1.8" HD ?
