External monitor does not stay linked

    I have an external monitor attached to my Aspire one which worked fine until I cleaned up some unwanted files.
    Now the monitor comes on while WindowsXP is loading. But I then get the Aspire ONe logo and the monitor goes off.
    (it displays "no signal")
    I would like to recover what was lost. Is there an exe file that can be downloaded?
