I've created an easy to use EWF installer. Includes everything you need to get EWF running. The catch is that it only works with a Windows installation in C:\Windows.

    Download and run this:

    Location 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=22DUL1XU
    Location 2: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?zitju3twmto

After installation, click OK when asked to import some keys into the registry. Then reboot.

When rebooted, the tool jf_EwfInfo will be in your system tray, ready for you to enable EWF (right click it for options)!

    Have fun!

EWF is "enhanced write filter" used in embeded systems. It prevents writes to the hdd/SSD and it reroutes the write operation to write to the ram instead. EWF is used on acer aspire one because of its SSD suffers from horrible read/write and lack of fast I/O operation.

Since you're a MCP, I assume you're familiar with MSDN. Here's an article from the site

How much does EWF help in hdd acer netbook? I am running xp in my AOA -ZG5, hdd model with 160GB. It works well however if it helps to make netbook super lightning fast, I just want to try it.

EWF doesn't help the HDD AAO netbook. SSD suffers when the OS is writing data thus EWF "disabled" that. With an HDD model, you get to enjoy twice the performance of the SSD without tweaking. With tweaking, you get even more performance out of AAO.

EWF or FBWF. I've tried both... they all end up with Flashpoint. Just a thought.
