    Below is the setting up procedure of a Encrypted Wifi network in Win XP (coz the web doesn't provide any instruction for linux = =)

    * Under the "Association" tab, type "freegovwifi-e" in the Network Name (SSID).
    * Ensure Network Authentication is "WPA" and Data Encryption is "TKIP". (or Network Authentication is "WPA2-Enterprise" and Data Encryption is "AES").
    * Under the "Authentication" tab, select "Protected EAP (PEAP)" in "EAP type".
    * Un-tick:
    o "Authenticate as computer when computer information is available"
    o "Authenticate as guest when user or computer information is unavailable"
    * Click "Properties".
    * Un-tick "Validate server certificate".
    * Select "Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)" in "Select Authentication Method".
    * Press "Configure".
    * Un-tick "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)".

    actually i hv installed the new network manager already from viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1028&st=0&sk=t&sd=a#p11346

    however i still can't connect, i don't think a CA cert is needed, therefore i press ignore when the box popped up and i enter the username and pw provided. i also tried PEAP version 0,1 too, but both can't work.
    how should i set up, pls help, thx so much !

    WPA2 Enterprise requires certificates.

    you're supposed to create and distribute the certificate on the Radius server you're connecting to.

    radius is a server component of windows servers
    i assume linux has same component on its server version too but i am not knowledgeable enough on that to answer your question
