I'm guessing there is support for SLIC (SLP 2.x), since there are people who have installed Vista on their AAO A150 machines.

It has version 2.0 which works with Vista but it wont work with Windows 7. Third party BIOS mods can hack in 2.1.... soon.

Lol, noticed my handiwork eh? Knew it'd only be a matter of time which is why I did the mod a month ago.

No. New Acer certificates are needed to work with their SLIC 2.1 code and they do not currently exist.

Can you make the bios appear as a different manufacturer?

    A) It's not possible on any system with a BIOS from Insyde to change the vendor.

    B) Even if it was, why bother? What's the worry? What's the rush? Acer's cert will certainly be out by the time Win7 comes out, so why not install now, use the rearm function as needed, and worry about it when the time comes? Not trying to be harsh, but I really can't understand people's crazy impatience with Win7 atm.

Sorry, I don't mean to be crazy impatience. I am just trying to learn something new.

In summary, here are BIOS files I've changed so far. Acer's SLIC 2.0 replaced with their SLIC 2.1 and nothing more on all of these:

    AOA150 v3310: http://www.box.net/shared/2kpstrdqbd
    AOD150 v1.13: http://www.box.net/shared/7ilngeqvnr
    AOD250 v1.27: http://www.box.net/shared/fcxuqgo9fo
    AO532h v1.22: http://www.box.net/shared/n6nqtkocjv

Acer certificate that works with new SLIC 2.1: http://www.box.net/shared/a201jskvix

And if you want the AOA150 also with changed boot logos: http://www.box.net/shared/yv9z51cjeo

Flashing from native DOS works best. Sometimes SLIC table doesn't get updated when using Windows flashing program.

Yeah, at the time it wasn't possible to change vendor but people worked their way around that in the past few days.

I still stand by my previous statements though. Here (and everywhere) on the internet people are far too impatient just to wait for some of the other certs to come out like Acer's. Plenty of rearm time available. It's like you were looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't actually exist. Especially since a certain key has already been blacklisted by Microsoft and will eventually fail WGA when they get around to it. And if you just wait you will be able to use this with versions other than just Ultimate (running Home Premium on mine fwiw).

updated the bios with your 'tested' version and all went fine.

Loaded windows 7 rc and then used 'windows Loader 7 v1.5' by orbit30. I selected the 2.1 bios option and picked ACRSYSACRPRDCT KEY. It went through the motions and eventual told me it had been loaded and the key etc. BUT when i checked to see if my version had been authorsied it still had the 30 day expirer ?

Am i doing something wrong ? - checked bios which has modded fine and also have used the window 7 loader prog on other pcs and they have been ok ?

    all help appreciated

    Tinman,

Orbit/Hazar's Loader 1.5 only works on the RTM Retail / OEM versions of Win 7, not the RC release candidate which uses different keys.

You can also install the cert provided by orbiting manually using the slmgr.vbs command, and the leaked Acer Win 7 Ultimate key. Head over to the mydigitallife.info forum, look under Win7, and the thread called Windows 7 repository, and you'll find the link to the keys, and command to install the cert provided by orbiting.

Worked fine on my bios modded AOA, with orbiting's modded bios
