    Thanks a lot, he will be very happy when he reads this! I'm just glad they are doing the right thing and provide a free replacement cord, way to go!

    A big thanks to you for posting this - I've placed my order for a replacement cable :). My wife and I both use the original Surface Pro, although I've not noticed any problems with the power cable so far.
