I changed to a "normal" desktop using this how-to a week or so ago:

    http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=1464

And now my AA1 will boot up to a blank blue desktop sometimes, occassionally it will boot up to the desktop with a wallpaper I set previously with some icons. I don't know how to make it do either one consistently... help?

I would like to keep the icons and my wallpaper but it seems the only way to get that is to boot up, then go to the desktop settings, enable xfce, then disable it again. Even then the wallpaper will appear but the icons only sometimes. I'm confused... and new to linux like everyone else here so very confused.

    Thanks!

    Try this one instead:

    viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1612

I much prefer it. It also seems to be the way the "normal" Linpus handles switching between interfaces.
