dell 1390 help not finding networks

    i just put the 1390 in my aspire one it shows up in xp and mac but cant find my networks the orange light is on. also the card is extremely hot and burned my finger the card smells like a burning hair dryer or a burning hot glue gun is the card defected? i reseated the card many times and switched the white and black wire still no luck this is driving me nuts please help

    Recognized but not finding networks in either MacOS or Windows? Burning hot?

    Sounds like you got a bad card. See if you can get an exchange from the seller?

    Unfortunately I do not know the rev of the top of my head... but with the symptoms you describe, it's not the rev that's the problem ;)

    It does sound like a bad card, although I had to clean all the MiniPC connectors first with an eraser and then with alcohol before it got my 1390 recognized.

    It could be that one or both of the antenna connectors/cables are broken and the card is running on extremely high power in order to try and locate networks.

    i cleaned the cars with 70% isopropyl achool and it connected once but died again it was only 12 mbps next to the wireless n router (linksys) card stll smelt like a burning hair dryer the brodcom chip was the hottest way hotter than the atheros that came in the aa1
