    my D255E died
    no lights, no anything

Checked the charger voltage - 19 vdc as expected.

Tore the baby apart, no obvious signs of a problem.

Checked for voltage at the MOBO connector from the charger socket.
    No voltage showing??
Had to remove the cable connecting the MOBO to the screen and
web cam to get the the charger socket out.

WHAT?? the battery charge light is now on!!
Checked the charger socket to MOBO again
bingo - I now have 19 vdc showing on the connector.

Plugged the screen connector in and the charging lite
went out and no voltage on the connector.

So there is a problem with the cable to the screen or the screen
itself. Why this has voltage to it when the laptop is off is odd.
Maybe the bends the cable goes through at the hinge is the culprit
    so

Took the screen apart and unplugged the connector to the screen.
Some green corrosion was in evidence on the plug.

With the charger plugged in and charge lite flashing
I plugged the connector back into the MOBO.

Flash, snap and smoke from the unpluged screen end of the cable,
unplugged MOBO connector real quick, charge lite came back on.

The connector to the screen is now fried black and burnt.

Where can I buy a new MOBO to screen and web cam cable??
I looked at many places, none list that cable.

Thanks for your time in reading this episode and any advise you may have.

Well too good to be true.
    Screen has internal short that
    is causing power issue.
    New screen on the way.
