copy window7 updates

hi guys,
i put new ssd harddrive in my laptop, reinstalled windows7 and waited for windows to update, which took a long time,
so next time to save some time, could i copy all the windows updates onto a usb stick, then reinstalled windows7 and put the updates from the usb to my laptop myself,
if so where do i find the windows update downloads?

It depends on how old your copy of windows 7 is, there is a service pack one available

If you have a later copy it will be bungled in.

There is another way using this program it's called WSUS Offline Update


It will allow you to download all the updates for you to write a dvd or usb.

@bluesfloyd I suppose you could do that but I don't see how it would save much time.
