I am looking to take this apart to replace the USB ports.

Does anyone know of a guide?

Well, I 'Googled' Compaq Service Manual... like you can do in future...
    the FIRST hit was this...

    http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00312740.pdf

it is for the Presario M2000 AND, the Pavilion ze 2000, so I have to presume that it is the correct one...

You will need a PDF reader, if it is 'built into your browser... look for the 'Save (picture of a Floppy Disk) feature and save it to your Donloads folder... or download it and open it in your PDF reader on your (other) computer...

    Happy servicing...

Brian, thank you for the info. Seems that your solution was so simple, that I overlooked it :)

After taking a quick look at the service information, it appears to be for my model, but for one thing. It mentions several versions, all of which have various Intel processors. My M2000 has an AMD processor not mentioned.

I will have to look into it further.

This really is your lucky week... the Alternate service manual can be found here...

    http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00444840

Should you ever contact HP with a query about your computer you will need to provide, Not just Compaq M2000 but also further info from the labels underneath... such as -
    Product: Presario M2000, s/n:[text removed for privacy], p/n: EC253UA#ABA
which has actually got a Celeron Processor...

P.S. The above info is NOT 'knocking you' - I added it because many other people read these Forums and as a certain Supermarket advertises...
    'Every little helps'...

    Happy Servicing...

    Hello,

Again, thanks, and I agree. I hope someone else can find this information useful. I wish I had the Intel version cpu, the amd's tend to run hot(ter)
