Can I dual boot xp and linpus linux?

    Hello all i am new to the boards and have a question...I have a one that has XP on it and a 20 Gb 1.8 inch Zif hard drive.. i have partitioned the hard drive for 11GB and 8GB.. i want to install the original linux operating system in a dual boot format.. but every time i try to install the linpus it tried to take over the whole drive.. it does not recognize the partitions.. is there any way to install this linpus linux in a dual boot format with Xp installed first?? thanks
