I'm downloading it now (still >15 minutes to go), but I'm not sure why you couldn't have requested to test a SHORTER video. Will report back. I have played MP4 on this machine (Asus EeePC 701, ubuntu-eee) before without problems.

And the answer is ... NO. It recognises the video codec, and will try to play the file, but the best it can manage is a scrollable slideshow of freeze frames (i.e., forever on PAUSE). This machine has 2 GB RAM. How common is HD MP4 anyway? I'm more used to much lower resolution.

a little late to the party but no issues at 1.6ghz using Media Player Classic + K-Lite Codec.
Will install CoreAVC and see if that lowers the CPU usage.
    Using Asus EEE 1000H, 2GB DDR2, 320GB Seagate Momentus 7200.3, XP SP3
