How can I speed up bootup time on my acer one? It now takes five minutes to get to my desk top after turning it on.

    took one part of suggestion

First thank you for offering a suggestion. The little ASPIRE ONE has something burdening it upon boot-up. I installed and ran CCleaner, then rebooted. It seems to be a bit quicker but not by a lot. I may seek a computer store expert soon.

Another program to try is wise registry cleaner here s the link.
There are many reg cleaner available .

Back up all your files on to a flash drive first .

If you want to start again from a factory reset then press ALT plus F10 TOGETHER
immediately after pressing the power button.

Be aware that you will then have to invoke a update windows and load all your personal programs and files.

Did you try the second link:

Check StartUp by entering 'msconfig' at Start>>Run.
Optimize your computer using below steps:
    1. Run CCleaner if installed otherwise install it first
    2. Check for unused programs and uninstall it
    3. Check which application is taking more CPU usage in task manager and try to fix it

CCleaner has a registry cleaner on board, a good one at that, also look at your start up programs and disable ones that are not necessary, this could give you a quicker response time.
Try a malware cleaners as well.

All the suggestions here are good, and I would run MSCONFIG and start knocking out startup programs by unchecking the boxes. Many programs that startup with the computer are not necessary and just slow things down. You can Google programs you don't know, and even though MSCONFIG is a program used to diagnose problems, you can leave anachronistic programs unchecked and always bring them back by rechecking the boxes.

MSConfig would be the first thing I would check. Just go to your Start Menu, and type MSCONFIG in the search box and hit Run. Choose "selective startup" from the options, then jump over to the Startup tab to remove anything you know that you don't need to load at startup.

There are also a number of freeware "boot optimizer" or "startup optimizer" apps out there that will not only help you do this as well, but can also change the order in which your apps load on startup to make them all load up in the fastest way possible.

I wouldn't rule out doing some scans on your system with Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D to make sure you don't have any viruses either.

You could install an SSD and put windows onto there. I have a Samsung 840 Evo SSD in my computer and I boot into windows in about 6 seconds. It really makes everything go faster for me, you should try getting one!
