Does anyone have any recommendations for an e-reader? I know the nook and kindle are the two most popular.
Does any have any of these and like or dislike them? I want to get one as a gift and am having a hard time deciding between the two of them.

Kindle is pretty much Universal... Nook is Niche... (virtually unique)

Computers, tablets phones can all use Kindle and here in UK the Kindle Fire (a tablet) is currently selling for about £50, not the cheapest, but probably FAR better quality than some at twice the price...

So, my vote... Go for the Kindle.

Good to know thanks. The only reason I'm hesitant to go with the kindle is because since its Amazon there are no stores to bring it to if I need help. At least with the nook you can always bring it to Barnes and nobles if something goes wrong.

You can also read e-books on the PC is you use softwares lie ''Calibre'' ;) Perfect if you don't want to spend money on a kindle or any other device specially created for e-books.

My thoughts mirror @Brian8gbSSDLinux's - the Kindle is a great buy and the paperlight is fantastic. I've had 2 different ones of the years and use them often - the screen is very good and the battery life is exceptional. Amazon sometimes have good offers on too :).

Thanks for the info! It's getting close to the Holidays so I will have to decide soon. Do you have any issues with it that you needed to send it back? That is my biggest fear since with the Nook you can go right to the Barnes and Nobel store and they will assist you.

I had a Kindle before, the original one, and I love it until the Kindle app came out I used the app on my phone and on my iPad instead. One less thing to carry around! If you are going to get an iPad, you really don't need another device, and just install the Kindle app on it.

I haven't had to send a Kindle back, but my wife had a fault with hers and Amazon replaced it the next day :). They have great customer service from what I've experienced so far.

Awesome! Thanks for this info. I am a big fan of Amazon. I think they have a great customer service. I have Amazon prime and have never had an issue returning it. I think kindle is the way to go.
