Can anyone give me an idea about the battery life of the Dell Inspiron 5000 series (5548 ,5558 or 5559) touch screen laptops.
I need to know about the battery life before buying one for myself.
Any other alternatives to the above mentioned laptops in the same price range would be much appreciated..

    Hi there jerebrag04,

The battery life is pretty good by today's standards. It's not as far out as the Lenovo T450 or X250 with 13 to 15 hours for battery life, but you'll still get many hours of good use out of the Dell Inspiron 5000 batery regardless which model you choose from them.

Each of the models (14, 15, and 17) are powered by the 4th Generation Intel Core I3, I5, and I7 processors which help extend battery life. So you can reasonably expect about 8 hours out of the Inspiron 14 5000, and about 7.5 hours from the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series between charges. The 17 uses slightly more power, but you can get at least 6 hours out of it still.

To balance power and speed while maximizing both, you may want to see if you can upgrade the 17 to an aftermarket battery from a reputable source to give you the same power with 7 to 8 hours. There are batteries with more cells that last longer than what the manufacturer provides, but are fully compatible. If you need that extra power and battery life it costs a little extra, but if freedom from having to plug it in longer is important to you, then it may be worth it for you to research that further to get what you need. :)

I would say that by today's standards, seven to eight hours is a really good amount of time in relation to the battery life.

That's what the Dell store says. But 7.5 to 8 hours seems a bit unrealistic for a touch screen laptop. That's why I wanted to get another opinion. I hope you you took into account the touch screen factor. Thanks for the help .

Well 8 hours sounds pretty good, but I am always skeptical and just assume that it is always less than advertised and it always does seem to be and we all know they get less and less over time. The best thing that I can say is just to do your research very very well and then do some more to make sure that you are getting what you need before making the purchase.
