    Hi,
I run a very old HP laptop which is used only for basic browsing (no gaming, streaming or whatever), and operated almost exclusively on the charger from day 1 as it's too heavy to be fully portable. The battery (which is 17 y/o although 'only' in use for 7!) is throwing up charging problems and is obviously about to quit, although so far, the machine remains fully operational if a bit slow by today's standards.
If I continue on mains power without replacing the battery, what problems, if any, am I likely to encounter? I have no plans to pension off the computer as it is in totally mint condition, was very high spec when new, and covers all my current computing needs. The battery replacement is a £50 hit and I can only find one supplier.
