Asus X55C boots straight into BIOS, HDD and optical drives not detected

    Hi All,

    I have a problem. I was reinstalling my OS (Linux, although that is probably beside the point) on my Asus X55C laptop and somehow managed to lose my boot options in the BIOS boot tab, now the machine boots straight into BIOS.

    I had considered the HDD might be shot, but that doesn't explain why I can't see the optical/CD drive.

    Does anybody have a clue on how to resolve such a problem?
