Aspire 5338 & 2Gb memory stick

    l have just purchased a new Acer Aspire 5338 laptop with 3Gb of memory and have tried, for the first time today, to plug in a 4Gb Realtec memory stick. The device does not show as a removable drive when I open Computer, although it does show on Device Manager. The stick works fine with my P.C. so it is not a stick problem. A 256Mb stick registers ok. Do I need to adjust any settings i.e. Bios?

    Acer Aspire 5338
    Intel Celeron T3000(1.8GHz, 800Mhz FSB)
    3Gb DDR3 Memory
    Vista Home Premium
