This utility resizes any apps run after u set the scale - its a widget

1 is 100 percent - so dont **** up - use value 0.85 or 0.8 this app does: sudo defaults write -g AppleDisplayScaleFactor

    installed it

    attempted to set a scale

    loaded photobooth

whole screen went white with the spinning color wheel

lost control of the system completely unresponsive

    now when I boot up

no menu bar, dock loads, can move the cursor but cannot open anything, keyboard not working.

I've been trying to boot the computer in "Safe Mode" for about 30mins.. no go

    same routine

no menu bar, dock loads, can move the cursor but cannot open anything, keyboard not working.

i was able to load the root user through safe mode

    booting with flags -v -x

i deleted the widget, rebooted like normal

now nothing shows up. just the spinning wheel

if I leave it for 2 mins the screen goes off, move my mouse screen comes back

    I'm using iATKOS v4i (10.5.4 Leopard DVD) from dem*n*id

everything was working "fine" until I installed this widget and tried to use it

I'm going to attempt to create a new user on the system and see if that helps

You can easily recover from this by: :
    1. boot using -s
    2. follow the onscreen info to mount the root volume
    3. go to the user folder and delete .GlobalPreferences.plist (i.e. "sudo rm /Users/robwill/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist")
The file will be recreated on the next reboot and everything should be back to normal.

lost functionality of my track pad

    in normal mode, safe mode.

a usb mouse works, but the track pad and buttons are doing nothing.

I think I'm going to goto Linux

this app does the same trick as the terminal one

and please - read up on what to do before tryin

it simply does sudo defaults write -g AppleDisplayScaleFactor x

    where x is a number

U must have set the scale to an INSANE value... this stuff is hilarious - it has nothing to do with track pads and white
screens or keyboard, man... did u set the scale to 100 - or in percents? 1 is 100 percent - u should have set it to 0.85

And yes, this application as the terminal trick also - enable vector user interface mode - so its gonna slow down if u
    use insane values....

and yes, it works - with leopard 10.5.4 iAtkos and just about any other leopard install - it does not change anything
and using the terminal is no different - just dont set insane values guys... U are blaming me for your own stupidity...
I did explain how to use it in 2 forums :D

Sorry that u didnt follow directions. tho in the next version I will make a reset script and an installer so u guys dont **** up.

    regards,

to set everything back to normal:

sudo defaults write -g AppleDisplayScaleFactor 1

    and reboot

this is a fix for u who set a value totally wrong - 1 is 100 percent remember!!!!! ;) lol

so setting it to 50 would **** up and display the menu bar over the whole screen... making the screen white... lol
or even 85 would do that - use decimals - 0.85

lol!!!! Im using 10.5.4 iatkos - and the terminal hack is what is used - and a dude fucked up cause he put a too high value. this app simply sets defaults write -g AppleDisplayScaleFactor to the very value u choose... 0.85 is the best

to fix - sudo defaults write -g AppleDisplayScaleFactor 1

this app works - it uses the terminal, and yes since I made this app I know... and it is easily changeable...

Check the javascript inside the widget man.. before u start tellin me how stuff works :D

I have now put up a new version with instructions inside the zip - on the new server location where it is not hosted
at rapidshares. Files are now locally hosted. http://theape.biz

I ensure u this app works for all versions of leopard and if u follow instructions it does nothing wrong.

The sourcecode is inside the widget - for all to see what it does... and it has worked for all who has tried it.

aRt : maybe you could change it a bit so that absent-minded people can enter % values instead ?

Don't know if this is because of ArtGui app but I can only boot into safemode. If I boot to "normal"mode I just see a blue backround.. nothing more... anyone have a clue about what it can be? My OSX have been running wonderful until now :(

nice widget, i suggest making the password box act as a password box showing stars instead of the actual characters of the password
