    Hi,

I currently own a EeePC 701 and I can get 1024x768 resolution on this tiny 7" screen using a Software called AsTray Plus for the EeePC.

I am looking to buy a WinXP AAO and I need it to run a program on it at 1024x768. I would be grateful to learn if anyone has managed to run 1024x768 resolution on the AAO and how.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Derek

The Astray utility lets me run 1024x768 on my AspireOne also. I also had an EEE 701 before and most of those hacks seem to work in my Acer pretty well.

I didn't install anything on my AAO and was able to select 1024x768 using the Intel control util. When I move the mouse down the screen shifts down to show the rest of the screen.

That little monitor in the systray. Right-click and select "Graphic Properties", Dispaly settings, and there you can choose higher res. I can go up 1600x1200 as well. I just have to move the mouse left and down to see the who screen.

Regarding Astray, the only resolution that I could get to work was 1024x768. It would not even restore the native resolution of 1024x600, so once you switched you were stuck. Has anyone else used this utility on the One that can comment?

you don't really need any utility, albeit it makes it easier
all you have to do is on the monitor tab on the display advanced settings remove the check box "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display".
now you have all the flexibility to change the resolution.
btw: does astray scale the screen to fit the resolution or just allows you to scroll vertically?

It scales it, that is the reason that you might want to run it. It does look a bit compressed vertically then, I'd really like to run a resolution that used 768 vertically and about 1310 horizontally to get the aspect ratio correct. 1280x768 is standard and would be closer.

For some reason when I run it, it still wont scale even when I tell it to. It overrides it :\

I applied 1024x768 to AA1 and works great. I switch to 1024x768 and 1064x600every now & then. I have full xp install on AA1

I did the samething to my asuseee701 4g w/ nlited xp. the eee can't go back to 800x480 even if the display properties show 800x480. It's making me crazy.

Can somebody pls show me how to get around with this on my asuseee. Maybe some registry tweaks has to be made

I use the "a1ctl" program by Noda. Outstanding all-around tweaker for an AA1 running XP.

Within a click or two, you can switch between 1024x600 to 1024x768 to 800x600. The 1024x768 can either be scrolled or scaled, your choice. Switching back is not a problem.

You could search for one of the unRAR utilities. WinRAR is one. Personally, I use 7-zip.
