anyone got a recent guide for VLC 0.8 instead of 0.9 ?

I hate 0.9.5 with a vengence the quality seems poorer and the jump to point in time functionality causes the video to takes ages to catch up, both on linux and windows :evil: seems 0.8.7 was recently (Nov 2008) removed from the livna repository anyone got a suggestion for it somewhere else ?
