of course using anti virus will slow down the machine but it should be a necessity these days

There is loads of stuff on the forums about anti virus and why it isn't a necessity on Linux, unless you're planning to do something like use your One as a mailserver for Windoze machines. Try this for a start:

    viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3265&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=antivirus#p21703

i don't think an anti virus software will be necessary for Linux, i am using Avast!(just for fun), it's free, no real time protection and only have the scan function. You need to reg first and reg is free, after it expire, you can reg again!

You really don't NEED anti virus, so that is why there is no topic on it. Most viruses only effect Windows since that is a bigger target, and has more to gain.

If you do want some anti virus for personal purposes OR to shield any windows machines on your network, Avast! would be a good first choice.
