    Hi,

there's an additional USB port available on the connector labelled "CN11" at the backside of the mainboard (see pic, original shot made by tnkgrl: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3135/276 ... d0_o_d.jpg). It seems that only one row of the header is connected to +5V / GND - the other row seems to be dead.

I've just installed a bluetooth USB adapter to confirm that it's working. That part of the mainboard is plenty spacious for soldering and fixiating a normal sized bluetooth adapter.

    Happy hacking,

    dogbert

Great find. Those pads look bigger to solder on too as opposed to the mini pcie ones. Definitely keep that header in mind when I ran out of output ports on my 4 port hub

I bet you have 100m Class 1 adapter and it's working all the time... There was info about using "stronger" BT dongles where range is better but battery live is "shorter"...

    great find. thanks!

just put in the bluetooth dongle under the HDD...took a lot of courage (second time using soldering iron)! they are much easier to solder than the mini pci pins, but still kinda small.

now i can sleep well!

It's only a few cm to the unused 3G slot! I want to try putting a 3G modem dongle in it :)

    Nice, thx for the tip!!

This means I will have to desolder my bluetooth dongle which I had soldered to one of the USB ports on the soundboard.
MY plan was to desolder D+ and D- from the USB board, route this to an internal usb 2.0 hub, then route back D+ and D-.
However, this is way easier.. So, I guess It's desolder time :)

I'll just wait untill I have bought a new USB 2.0 hub :)

Great find! I just soldered my bluetooth module to that port and it is working. BTW i got the hard disk version (150) - the hard disk will need to be removed to reveal the usb port.

yeah I noticed that too, but that one is very close to the CPU so I didn't use that side. i don't have the soldering skill and steady hand required.

in the pic you highlight one row of pins, but the other row (the one with 5pins) isn't it another usb port? it look like the usb pins on a ATX motherboard

    the pinout
    http://pinouts.ru/Motherboard/usb_internal_pinout.shtml

    here is more clear
    http://www.pugetsystems.com/help/usb.php

    can anyone check that?

Of course you can feed that one port to a hub and have more ports to play with... Then that's when the fun begins.
