    Hi all,

my first post - I've scoured the forums looking for this exact question, but can't see it.

I tried adding a 1GB stick of RAM to my One today (actually I paid a local laptop company to do it for me) but once it was installed Ubuntu wouldn't load properly.

Took the RAM out, Ubuntu works fine.

Has anyone added 1GB RAM to their One running Ubuntu Netbook Remix specifically?

Any ideas why it didn't work?

I'm going to return the RAM anyway - I just realised I ordered a Crucial stick, but was sent an Integral branded stick. Naughty!

Never had any problems with netbooks I modified. Ubuntu just detects more RAM and works w/o problems...

Hi there and Welcome to the Forum :D

I would check that the type of RAM you have received is the same speed as the type you have in already.
If the RAM is the wrong speed then it won't run very well if at all!!

Let us know how you get on

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know how to check the RAM speed on an Aspire One running Ubuntu?

I'm going to return the RAM anyway, so I should be able to exchange it for the correct type if this isn't right...

    Hi there,

Not sure how to do it within Ubuntu but if you physically take the stick of RAM out that is there it should have a sticker on it with all the info you need :D

    Thanks for the replies!

I think it was just a faulty stick. Going to send it back and try again.
