    TO ACER/LINPUS:

HOW CAN THE SEARCH BAR BECOME A CRITICAL UPDATE? JUST BY BROWSING EACH POST FROM THIS FORUM, THERE ARE TONNES OF OTHER THINGS THAT ARE REALLY CRITICAL!

FF3; Open Office 2.4; divX issues; network drive issues; Impress/Powerpoint Issues - Just to name a few...........

I don't know, but the update only cost 820Kb, I don't think installing it will have any :p trouble!

They are critical updates simply because of the model Acer uses for their distro, i.e. their update system assumes all systems are unmodified and untweaked and the same.
As soon as something is not updated or updated outside their update system, then their model breaks.

They're simply marking changes as "critical" to make the change mandatory. Really they should have changed the terminology to make it clearer what's being updated and that it's all mandatory, rather than overusing the word "critical" which has implications of security or stability issues.
