Acer Aspire background echo/hum when recording

    When I first bought the Acer Aspire laptop it seemed to record from a microphone ok but for about a year now my recordings (spoken word) all have a sort of echo/hum in the background. I have bought a new microphone but no improvement.

    Anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try to get rid of this background noise?

    Try the graphic equalizer, if you have one a bit of trial and error should see you ok, if not set your sound card to the environment that is best for spoken word.
