Acer Aspire AO531H - Setup Password

    Hello:

    I'm helping my friend with his Acer Aspire AO5311H. Some one gave him this and we want to install a new OS but when we try to boot from CD it does not boot so we tried pressing "f2" for setup but asks us for password. My friend does not know the password.

    What can we do to reset the password so we can setup and boot from CD.

    look around for the service manual for the 531h. it will tell you in there how to clear the cmos password.
    on the d250 you had to short a small jumper by the ram while the battery was out for it to clear the cmos settings.

    Im sure someone here or on some other forum has uploaded the service manual.
