Acer Aspire 7715 wont turn on

    This is my first post, so hi all! I've had a problem with my laptop today in that, a few weeks ago - the charger broke, it smelt like burning and eventually it stopped working. My pc shut down due to running out of battery and just recently I got a new charger (the same type I always get that works). Anyway, I tried it today and my laptop just doesn't seem to be having any of it. The battery light flashes orange, while the light to the left of it just stays orange. I've held the switch down for ages but it wont work, I've tried turning it on without the battery and now I'm running low on ideas. I thought I'd just have to wait for it to charge before swirching it on but it's been on 'charge' for the past few hours. It's around two years old, but it's always been a good laptop. Help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
