What, according to you, is the difference between a root account and an administrator account ?

The Root account is the Administrator account for Linux.

    Thanks for your answer.

In max OSX you have a root account and a administrator account and a user account and a guest account. The root can do everything in the system and even in the other accounts. The administrator can install programs even for user accounts , can make new user accounts , but can not enter into the files of the users accounts The user can only install programs in his own account and work in his own account . The guest can only work in the guest account.

You say in Linux administrator and root is the same . Thats means that I allready have an administrator account , but how can I make a user account ?

    thanks for your help

    Thanks for clarifying :)

The meaning of root account in linux and OSX is identical - essentially "god".

There is no direct analog for the administrator account in linux, though some distributions, including Linpus, have the "sudo" system - a group of selected users can issue higher level commands by preceding them with the sudo command. Alternative methods, like usergroups, also exist, but are not used on the One.

The factory made account on your aspire one is that of a normal user with sudo rights. The way it is set up is an obvious security risk - but Acer opted for this nevertheless.
If you wish to add more and different users, as well as enabling a system to login before the desktop appears, take a look at these topics:

    viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1367

Alternatively install a better linux distro. Linpus is based on an obsolete version of Fedora, so keeping it up to date will become harder and harder.

Thanks for your reply Grim ,

Now I know what I wanted to know.
I 'm not a linux specialist and I think it is best for me to keep on working with the account made by acer.
First I will try to learn more about linux systems. I' ve ordered a knoppix live CD wich I can use on my Mac computer without any risk.

    thanks again
