    Hello everybody,
I am a "silver surfer", hair and age! I have a desktop Zoostorm 3TB HDD loads of RAM Win 8.1 option to upgrade to Win 10 but undecided.
I also have a Laptop:- Acer Aspire E15 E5-571-56CZ running Win 10 (just put on) from Win 8.1 and getting used to it.
The problem:- When I shut down the Aspire the left hand LED light on the front of the machine still shows red, if I leave it the machine obviously hasn't shut down properly and the battery gets drained. When I notice this I have to take the battery out for a few seconds and after replacing it no LED light and the machine is off.I should not have to do this.
Does anybody kindly have an answer?
I might include you in my will if you can help me!!
    Cheers

Firstly welcome to the laptop-forums site.

At the bottom search the web and windows box type POWER

In the new menu you need to click on POWER OPTIONS

Click on choose WHAT POWER BUTTONS DO

Alter these settings in this order

    shut down ,
    do nothing
    shut down.

Thank you 'something back'. I am struggling with the desktop beast at this time, (Just put in a new improved graphics card which will not work with HDMI only VGA). Will let you know later of success.
    Thanks again,

    Eureka!!!
Problem with laptop solved, thank you 'summat back' for pointing me in the right direction. What I actually did, because I am running Win 10 on this machine was:-
    Windows button
    Settings
    System. Power & Sleep
    Additional power settings
on the left "Choose what power buttons do.
    Nothing
    Sleep
    Nothing

Thanks again, saved me tearing my hair out. You will be remembered in my will!!
    Janda

    Postscript:-
Now got the desktop to recognise the new graphics card and it works a treat on HDMI. Not sure how I did it just fiddled and f'd until it went right.
    Cheers.
