Replace hard drive in 751

    Can I replace my 160gb hd with a bigger one in my new Acer 751 11.6 netbook and if so, what is the size I can go up to

    Although I haven't researched it, I don't see why there would be a limit on the size of the hard drive you could use. While yes, it must meet form factor rules, the actually capacity should be moot. I have no intention on ever replacing my hard drive except in the event of it crashing, so I won't be able to test this out for you. If you are wanting to clone the drive, then a quick search should turn up a few methods I recall seeing about upgrading the SSDs to HDDs...

    I put in a 320GB without problems. I cloned the original 160 GB onto the new so I can mess around with the software and still keep the original intact when (seems less and less like if) I need to send it to acer because of freezing problems.

    I am looking into upgrading to a 64gb ssd. do any of you have a perticular brand to suggest, anything special to look for before i commit to purchase

    Just know that the gma 500 doesn't support sata. I believe it's actually an ide interface with a sata converter. Hence why the hdd speeds on the 751H aren't that great. But still, an SSD is a great all around investment.
