On another computer that has a CD drive:
stick the Linpus CD in the drive and a blank usb key on a port
restart the PC and make it boot to the CD
select the option to create an installation USB stick
That's it. It should actually be explained in your AA1's manual.

I also tried to reinstall Linpus to an USB drive, got error 39. Then I noticed that drive D was gone (I used windows to run the Recover DVD) and ran TestDisk, that fixed drive/partition D back. This means, this commercial DVD from Acer isn't very trusty, right? ;)

The reason why I want Linpus back is because Ubuntu 9.04 and Ubuntu Netbook Remix got a bug somehow on that AA1 laptop. Read more about my problem http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=14660&p=91309#p91309
