Dead Aspire one

    Hi,

    Sorry to say my Acer Aspire One 8.9" screen 512mb ram and 120gig hard drive has gone wrong. Sorry because it's such a useful bit of kit.

    I switched it off on Sunday as normal. When I rebooted it, the green power light came on and the fan starts but that's it. Black screen and no bios loading. I run Unbuntu netbook remix.

    I have tried to reflash the bios. It flashes but goes no further. I did leave the machine switched on and the mains plugged in for 2 hours afterwards just to make sure it wasn't just a slow remap of the bios.

    I bought the Aspire off ebay a month ago. It was new but I didn't get the receipt from the original owner. Soi know I'm stuck.

    I hope some one can point me in the right direction for things to try.

    If not looks like I will have to replace it with a new netbook.

    did you name the Bios file to
    ZG5IA32.fd?

    Bingo! That worked fine. Thank you for the advice. This is being typed on the Aspire One.
