XP, purchase or use older version

    Can I install and use a version of XP that I have for an older computer that died, or is there a copy write issue here?

    Should be good you still own the license even though you don't use the old computer

    That's fine. Even if you used a license from a working PC, it may be illegal once you use it past the 15 day evaluation period, but Microsoft won't detect it.
    I'm not condoning piracy, but pointing out that it won't be detected.
