I've been getting quite a few pms about the disc... so heres the answer in full:

    - The disc started as a retail Windows XP SP3 disc
    - I used nlite to remove components
    - I used nlite to add the updates (using the add updates/hotfixes)
    - I also used that method to add the programs - and yes, the programs can be removed via the normal way
    - I slipstreamed the drivers using nlite aswell

    [IMG]9

    File 267mb
RAM use on first startup 120mb
    Install size ~1.6GB

This was created for an Acer Aspire One and has the drivers slipstreamed. This can be used on other computers aswell I also updated it with the latest hotfixes and added a few programs that I find a pain to reinstall all the time. It took me 9 mins to install into virtualbox and then restart. Just read the "READ_ME_FIRST.txt" for more detailed instructions as to how to install this properly. Also I did leave the manual install files this time, so the EEEguides tutorial wil work in making this windows bootable from usb. Have fun :).

To the mods - this is not unattended and has the option of the user entering their own license key, so I hope you guys are happy with this.

I believe there are newer WLAN drivers for the Atheros card?
I don't believe in creating an install with slipstreamed drivers (other than if SATA controller drivers are required), there's usually always updates that I hate to have to remove the old ones to install. Drivers are the one thing that are always broken and putting multiples on the same system can be disastrous.

I know there are newer WLAN drivers, but these seem faster on my system (at least for me). The newer driver resulted in a lot of disconnections from my router, although that could have just been a coincidence.

The reason I slipstreamed the drivers, is because I know these to work with my AAO, and it makes it easier for new users to just install Windows and use their netbook.

Yeah, I integrate drivers too, as you can have a fully working machine in 20 minutes. You can always update the drivers afterwards if you need the latest versions. I almost never had any troubles updating drivers on all of my machines (except Catalyst, they can be a bit ****** at times).

Was this created with the original XP CD included with the AAO? Has anyone used an AAO product key with this successfully?

I installed Windows from a standard XP Home SP3 CD (not from acer) and the product key on my AAO XP license sticker does not work. The sticker says Windows XP Home ULCPC. I do not have my orginal AAO XP CD.

    What is the volume label?

This was created from a retail windows xp pro sp3 cd. A xp home serial will not work with it at installation. However you dont *need* to enter a key at installation. The READ_ME_FIRST.txt file will have instructions on how to activate your windows.

The three files have the extensions .001, .002 and .003. This is because the file was split with a program called hjsplit. Download it here, and then use it to join the files. You should end up with an iso file which can either burn, mount on a virtual drive or open with WinRar. Hope that helps.

Another license question - I have an unused XP Pro license, but it's an OEM license. Am I correct in thinking it also would not work for this?

The OEM license willnott work if you enter it at installation, but there are ways to activate with that license key after windows installation is complete. However why use your key if you dont have to eh :D.

Downloaded and joined. Can access the iso file. Iso file is burned and boots just fine.

However, I have the same problem with every different install I have tried.

After loading the drivers, the "Starting Windows" prompt appears and then I get a Blue Screen with a ***STOP: 0x0000007B after about 20 seconds.

I have tried this iso as well as my original SP2 with the SATA drivers streamlined. I have also upgraded the bios to the latest version .3308.

I have read discussion of this previously where folks claimed that SP3 solves this problem, but it doesn't since I tried streamlining SP3 into my original SP2 setup with the same result. I can even see the 80821 SATA driver loading and still no go......

Maybe I just have a bad unit. I hate to drive two hours back to return it, but I have put about 15 hours into this already. Any suggestsions!

    Thanks!

Anyone else having problems with this install?

I can get XP onto the machine but each time I start it up I get an "RTHDCPL.EXE - Unable to locate Component" error because it cannot find HHCTRL.OCX. I've tried re-installing the drivers for the Realtek sound card but that has not solved it.

The XP activation does not work. Neither does several otehrs I've tried. Unfortunately my copy of XP that's been on my bookshelf since updating to Vista on my PC is a home edition and therefore the code does not work!

The previous version of this worked perfectly other than for the lack of the ACPI drivers which meant I could not see the battery life.

Why do we get such differing results when installing the same software on apparently the same machine? Do the internal parts vary significantly? I have an AAO 150 using the default BIOS. Are there different builds wrt graphics cards, chipsets etc?
