I have the 120gb Windows xp Acer Aspire One, and boy, i LOVE it.

I installed WoW on it, and with medium setting, got a playable game at 30+ fps.

Turning the graphics down sure helps ( with an 8.9 inch screen, do you really need textures at max..really?). With graphics down, i walked into a building/instance and get anywhere from 30-60 fps (yes, 60).

hope this helps some of you out.

    Thanks,
    Omniruka

you render much faster in buildings because it reduces the viewable area significantly. I'll wager the drop will be big when entering the world

How in the world (of warcraft) are you getting 30+ frames per second? I'm running on TinyXp with a minimal amount of resources running in the background and I get about 7fps in Shattrath and a maximum of 30fps in a small building. Are you using modified drivers or something? I've also heard about swiftshader but I have no idea how I would use that with World of Warcraft. I also have everything running on low.

Try setting the colors to 16 bits and 1x allias(?)... This can also be found in the ingame videosettings, maybe you have overlooked this.

Same results unfortunately. I just got swiftshader and I'm trying to figure out how to use it. I extracted it where my WoW.exe file is located, but I don't experience any difference whatsoever. I'm going to try 3dAnalyzer next.

Any luck with this? I don't have problems with WoW but a little performanceboost is welcome!

You got it installed on another computer? If so, just copy the folders to external hd or usb stick and move to your AAO.

Use the full version. You have the HD space to spare, you're better off using the full version, as I have seen several (albeit relatively minor) issues come from chopping stuff out.

Soloing, barely. Raiding, not even close.

I've found that it works really well for Fishing/Farming ore and Herbs and solo questing is alright too.. But raiding isn't going to happen with this machine, it gets around 13 fps in Dalran, 7 if your runnin around. I've been messin with 3danalyzer but haven't had much luck improving the frame rate with it. If you guys have any success with it please let me know :)

I would disagree with that :D I am raiding Naxx 10man easily getting around 20fps. I was really confused because i am getting around 5-10fps outside but such a huge boost in Fps at inside of naxx. So you CAN raid with One :)

As my first official post here, I would love for someone whose experimented with getting the most out of WoW to maybe write a Tutorial. I know theres only so much you can do given the specs of the AA1, but I figured every little tweak helps. I just find a lot of conflicting results from people. Some are saying its getting 30+ FPS and some are saying 15 or less. I've seen videos of people running WoW solo questing at 20-30 FPS. So I atleast know THATS possible.

Theres a pretty good video of some dude running WoW on the ASUS 900HA, all netbooks have pretty much the same hardware.

    How to get it this smooth;

    Launch WoW

type the following things into chat:
    /console showlowdetail 0
    /console smallcull 1
    /console characterAmbient 1
    /console detailDoodadAlpha 1
    /console groundEffectDensity 16
    /console groundEffectDist 1
    /console skycloudlod 1
    /console farclip 177

When I get my netbook this week i'll be trying a few things myself

But again. what would be great is a sticky thread with a semi in depth tutorial / guide to getting the most out of WoW
    :D

I must have a defective cpu cooler. After about 5 minutes of playing WoW on my brand new aoa150, the systems shuts down. But prior to that, I can get a good 30fps with everything turned to its lowest setting. In northrend while using spells and abilities it tanks to about 8fps though.
