WMV MSS2 - Video plays but no sound in Kuki Linux

    Hi does anybody know how to get a WMV file which uses MSS2 to play sound. Had a Linux guru take a look into problem trying to play a CBT nuggets training video. Send a copy of the vid and Guru got it to play by downloading additional .ddl files from Mplayer from web sites additional codec download section.
    Hardware is Acer aspire one net book with 16Gig SSD / 1 Gig ram and have installed Kuki Linux after wiping out win xp home as it was to slow. Has anyone been able to get video and sound working on these types of files in Linux?
    I have searched for weeks on web and see many people are having similar issues.
    Some can get sound but no video.
    Any help appreciated.
