WLAN scanners for Linux ?

    I once used a laptop (Windows) that came with a proggy that showed both the name and channel of the WLAN's in range.
    This was useful for choosing an unused channel for my own network.

    Is there any such software that can be used on the Aspire One (Linux) ?

    Give KISMET a try, should work on linux.
