Does anybody have any idea how I might do this? Make and model is no problem, I have the correct driver. I don't know what to fill in for location and device URL. Any help would be appreciated.

Try "yum update cups" and you will have the HP JetDirect option. :D

Thanks I have this option now, but it still asks for Hostname or Port Number. Do you happen to know what to do from here? Sorry if this is a noob question.

Hostname is the IP address of your printer. Port = 9100.

This should work. (If your HP printer is already configured)

Hm, so I thought I was all set but something isn't meshing right.

Port scan revealed 9101 is my correct port... Printer is HP photosmart C4200

    Setup is as follows:
    Device URI: socket://10.0.1.1:9101
    driver: HP Photosmart C4200 Foomatic/hpijs, hpijs 2.8.2

When I print, the job appears in the printer queue and then disappears as if it's been sent but nothing comes from the printer. Print jobs are working from other computers on the network.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same setup except with an HP 932c printer. Mine worked on port 9100.

Thanks but I'm not sure what's going on. Did you install HPLib and how? Maybe I need to go back and redo that a different way.

The only different thing I did beside the "yum update cups" is first I tried to install the printer on ipp and it automatically downloaded the driver to the printer in the process and even printed off 4 lines of ascii when I tried to print a test sheet before quiting.

I've entered that command but Acer says:
    Code:
Could not find update match for cups
    No Packages marked for Update
And JetDirect option has not appeared. Only SMB and IPP are available.

    How can I fix it?
