    Hello.

I am just wondering, does the left SD slot play any role in AA1's running Windows? As far as I know Windows can not merge the storage space, and as long as it has far more storage space wouldn't need to, so, what's the use for the slot? Does it work just like the right one?

    Thanks.
    Joe.

I've got a 4GB Class 6 SDHC card in configured for ReadyBoost. Despite reports to the contrary, it does improve response time of applications (even with 1.5gb) and has meant I can use the One to replace my work laptop.

I use it for a card reader for SD cards. That's about it (running XP).

Well, at least it's got an use there, for a moment I thought it was kinda pointless.

    Thanks.

I am also running Windows XP and I use it the same way.
If you have SSD, it is a good idea to buy a SD/SDHC Card and put it in there to gain extra storage.

Have a 16GB card in there permanently. Use it for My Documents and all temporary folders. I also tend to install games and other bloaty apps that I might want to get rid of so as to avoid clogging up the 8GB of the main SSD too much.

I have a 4 gig SDHC in there and installed eBooster which uses the card as a cache bring the same benfits as ReadyBoost to XP. Google eBoostr to get more info.It has definatly made my AOA150 120gig Windows XP faster.

I keep a MicroSD converter card in it and swap a 2GB card between it and my phone. All day at work it is in my phone and on the train ride home its in the One.

Is it possible to "combine" the SD with the SSD ? Like it does in Linpus?

Try the diskmanager in XP to make an active partition... I'm nog sure if that's the correct name but I know it's possible to combine 2 harddrives, or 5 like I did a while ago in my old server :p

PS. I use my left SD slot for a 16Gb card to play World of Warcraft, my 8Gb SSD is not big enough... I never new that XP would work when I bought my One... :p

I agree if you have the hard-drive model eBooster is a must. The left SD card slot almost full contains the card, so it's not visible. I put in a 4GB SDHC card and used ebooster. It made things much quicker to launch applications, this includes windows bootup. Whether it saves on battery power I'm not sure, but it makes sense. Probably not saving much though, just marketing.

Mine is encrypted with TrueCrypt and I keep all my PortableApps on it as well as my documents. I can use my apps on any other pc if needed using a card reader, and i can keep it all in my pocket. If i lose it, it's useless to anyone without the password.

    Hi All!

A semi-OFF question about eBoostr & SD card slot: Is it neccessary to use an SDHC card in the left slot for eBoostr, or a 2GB normal SD card is good enough? And the read/write speed of the card is important?

SDHC is fine, I use a 4GB for eboostr.

yes, read/write speed is important, as it is using it as cache.

So, a normal 2GB SD, which is fast (20MB/sec) is not OK?
