    Windows setup and recovery disks

Many people forget to create a recovery disk set until it's to late.

It's also advisable to take a note of your serial numbers after you have upgraded
these can, and do change with each update/upgrade.

Microsoft at present provides online recovery disks.

    Windows 10

    Windows 8 and windows 8.1

    Windows 7

NOTE: This download was only meant to provide a recovery set after
experiencing difficulties restarting their systems after a certain set
    of security updates failed

I expect this link to be removed shortly

Thanks a lot for the info, as usual very useful. I think I have made my mind and decided not to upgrade for now, but you never know, I might change of mind sooner or later ;) After all I still have a full year to think about it ;)

Thank you for the links, as they are very useful. I am the guilty one that forgot to do the recovery disks. I think I take it for granted that I won't run in to trouble, but I was wrong every time. If it is not one thing, then it is another :( I should have done the recovery disk for my HP.

I usually just make backups of all my data and then restore the laptop with a fresh copy of Windows. However, I guess this may seem as a more productive approach.
