typical fan variation with the Acer's. Some will get noisy fans, some won't.

I do think there are two different fans, one noisy and one quiet. I have a AOA110-1626 with a very quiet fan. It is just a soft whisper at medium speed and just a soft air rush sound at full speed.

Recently was working on three AOA110-1113 units and all of them have a loud buzz even with the fan at medium speed and a very loud buzz at full speed. Flashing the BIOS from 3114 to 3308 made no difference in the fan noise.

Maybe there are two different manufacturers. Maybe one fan has ball bearings (noisy but long lived) and the other has sleeve bearings.

Someone did say they had a noisy fan replaced under warranty in this forum. Do the newer models have quieter fans?

I'm wondering the same thing: are there any 150s out there with loud fans, as I have several people who have expressed interest in purchasing a machine like my own (AOA150); and, I'm wondering if I should tell them that it's a crap shoot insofar as the fan is concerned. That's a bit uncomfortable if true.

I remember seeing somebody post that they filed down the fan blades to make it quieter. Maybe it's the same fan, but the blades rub against the housing on some units but not on others?

I've had three A150 machines. First was mfg date 0808; pretty quiet, but audible. Second was mfg date 0810 and absolutely quiet even at high speed. Third was mfg date 0180 and is the noisiest of the bunch but not TOO bad; it rarely comes on anyway now since I'm running a1ctl.
