Stand up and take a bow.

I'm sure it was done as team, but I'd still like to know who penned the lines as I find it very attractive. It's unusually elegant.

Did Acer come up with it in house or did they get it done by contract I wonder?

I don't know, but it seems to carry some design influence from Acer's Gemstone Blue series, which was in development around the same time that the Aspire One was.

It looks like The One Man is Iverson Cheng:

I can't fully understand what's being said (only speak & understand basic Japanese - a few weeks there wasn't enough to pick up the entire language! ;) ) - but above his picture it does say 'industrial designer'. :geek:

From what I've heard, the One was supposed to be part of the Gemstone design series.

They did a great job. I like every curve of it.

Indeed. I have my answer! Thanks very much.

From the video, Iverson Cheng was the leader of the industrial design. Cool. Part of his concept was for something to appeal to women, something they'd be happy to slip into a bag or purse. Of a lot of input from women was considered during the design phase.

The IMD (in mold design) tech from Japan is what allows, in addition to the pearly finish, the logo on the cover to appear without any raised surfaces: its actually implanted when the plastic part if formed.

Finally, of the five colors planned only the white and blue ones will be for sale initially in Japan. Acer originally expected the white model to be the most popular, but it turned out that the blue model generated much more interest,

(end of my translation notes. I"m happy to say I could understand most of it, despite the poor sound quality)

Well, Mr. Cheng, I"d just like to say I think you did a fine, fine job with the Aspire One. Congratulations and thank you.

    Thanks for the translation.

Designed with women in mind, .............

Err, does anyone want to provide a slogan for the men who use a One?

Well I guess it simply appeals to the womanly side in every man :D

It is indeed a beautiful machine. Of course I wouldn't have purchased it if it had been crap regarding features, specifications and/or price, but in all honesty I have to admit that its design and looks somewhat influenced my decision.

    Well done, Mr. Cheng!
