    Hi!
For next year I'll be starting college and I'll need a laptop for programming, I don't know that much about software which I'm not sure what to buy. I'm a student looking for a budget laptop, but still good for what I'm looking for.

I found some options, but still, I would like any tips or suggestions from you.

    1. Intel Core i5-6300U, 8GB Ram, 256GB Solid State SSD
    2. Intel Quad-Core i5-8265U, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
    3. Intel Pentium Gold, 8GB RAM, 128GB
    4. AMD A9-9425 up to 3.7 GHz, 8GB DDR4 Memory, 256GB SSD, AMD Radeon R5 Graphic
    5. AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Quad-Core, Up to 3.70 GHz, 8GB Ram, 256GB SSD
    6. AMD Quad-Core A12-9720P | 8GB RAM | 512GB SSD

Please I would be so grateful with any help. Thanks

Basically, compute science students need a laptop for coding, learning programming, concepts, project submission, etc, If you were a programmer, you can choose the laptop anyone from below.

    1. Microsoft Surface Book...

    2. Samsung Notebook 9 Pen

    3. Lenovo Yoga 920

    4. Dell XPS 13 UHD InfinityEdge

    5. Microsoft Surface Pro 7

Since i go to a computer science university myself i think it would make it easier to define what your budget is
first 2 years i did in university i used a dell d500 from 2003 and frankly that was fine until its power supply killed it.
My new laptop is a refurb Thinkpad T440s. The T440s is also a great laptop. However not what i would absolutely recommend.
Maybe see if you can get a newer refurb thinkpad. Or maybe try one of the surface tablets
