This is gonna be my first laptop, so I want something that's gonna last me for a long time. I want it to be good build-wise, and also not have any thermal-throttling issues. The games I play include CS:GO, GTA V, BF4, etc. We also do Premiere, Photoshop, and Premiere in school.

They have their own advantages and disadvantages and unluckily for you, there will be a trade off if you choose one over the other (since you're a heavy user, although it's not that significant of a trade off). This won't be an issue if you're only gaming, because the Dell Inspiron 15 7559 would be the clear winner if that is so. Nevertheless, they're both good laptops, but I'm more inclined to purchase the latter. The 256GB SSD is simply too good to miss. :)

I would recommend that you go for the second one and upgrade the Storage if you need in the longer run. Buying the i5 over an i7 is better than buying an SSD over an SSHD. And with the i5 you are getting into Skylake which will provide great performance and the fact that it has a better battery for Skylake should provide you a Solid Battery backup. I believe that you would be getting a DDR4 memory with the i5 which helps a lot. Good Luck.

I never have any experience using either one of these brands laptop, but I remembered my college computer instructor told us to avoid Dell years back. If I have to pick one, I would look at each laptop's specs, my pocket book, and what I would use it for, then decide!

My husband is aiming for a Dell but I think that price of your Dell is lower. Can you post where you got that price quotation from? We are also in the Philippines. Acer used to be our favorite (popular among my circle) but Dell is getting to the surface lately with good reviews so maybe we would be getting a Dell. And we are also targetting an SSD for the storage, one that we can afford.

    Thanks for the responses!

I won't necessarily be gaming only on this machine. Since this is my first laptop, it's basically gonna act as a desktop replacement for me. So I also want general use like watching videos, movies, listening to music, typing, etc. to be good :)
